Description: This one-term class will be covering Science Fiction Literature Analysis. It will be a hybrid literature and science class meant to stimulate science learning through narrative, and literature analysis through group sharing and engaging scientific thought. Students will read two short novels and a number of short stories pulled from classic and award winning science fiction literature as well as more modern works. Students will be expected to read and write out of class in order to keep up with the topics. Each work will be partially read out loud in class, with activities appropriate to the literature, including covering physics, scientific ethics, time, multidimensionality, style, writing techniques, plot, theme, and more. Book reports and short story writing will be covered as well, and students will be required to do writing outside of class for these assignments. There will be no grades, but feedback on work that is turned in will be offered.
